UNIFIL holds annual handicrafts exhibition in Shama

The Handicrafts Exhibition for Women was recently held at the UNIFIL base in Shama, south Lebanon. The exhibition is an annual UNIFIL tradition, bringing together women entrepreneurs in south Lebanon with an eclectic mix of national and international people working with UNIFIL who are eager to buy products unique to the local communities.

The exhibitors represented various villages in the south, and displayed goods ranging from spices, jams and breads to woodwork and textiles. They had their stalls ready for customers by mid-morning, and the enthusiastic turnout included both military and civilian staff members. The event was marked with music and dance performances by peacekeepers from around the world, adding a touch of festive joy to the occasion.

UNIFIL Civil Affairs Officer Svjetlana Jovic, who has been instrumental in organizing the exhibition over the last 5 years, hopes to continue this cherished tradition for many years to come.
