The role of UNIFIL’s Liaison Branch grew steadily and significantly as the exchanges of fire across the Blue Line intensified since October 2023.
The UN flag was raised once again yesterday at a UNIFIL observation post along the Blue Line in Labbouneh. The post, which was damaged during the recent conflict, underwent major repairs recently.
As part of UNIFIL’s endeavours to build and enhance capacity of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), the mission’s naval peacekeepers have intensified in recent months training activities with the Lebanese Navy and the Air Force.
Late last night, Lebanon’s Permanent Military Court found guilty six of the individuals charged in the killing of Irish peacekeeper Private Seán Rooney in Al-Aqbieh in December 2022. One individual was acquitted.
